Putnam City North overcame trailing 17-points in the third quarter to beat Edmond North 41-38 on a game-winning kick by Sam Allee in overtime. The win ends a five-year losing streak against Edmond North for the Panthers. The last loss for Edmond North against Putnam City North was 2007. Elijah Fisher led the Huskies offense with 15-catches for 150-yards and 3-touchdowns. The loss brings Edmond North to (2-5) on the season. Edmond North received the ball to start the first half. MacNaughton got things going right off the bat for the Huskies completing his first pass for 54-yards to Logan Taber. MacNaughton two plays later threw a 5-yard touchdown to Elijah Fisher. The drive went for less than a minute with the Huskies passing for 65-yards on 3-plays. On the kickoff, the Panthers fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Huskies at the Panthers 35-yard line. The Huskies capitalized on the fumble with Taber catching a 6-yard touchdown from MacNaughton. The score brought the Huskies lead to 14-0 with 9:30 left in the first quarter. Putnam City North’s offense started their first possession on the ground with 30-rushing yards. The Panthers drove the ball to the Edmond North 34-yard line, but could not move the ball from there and punted the ball back for a touchback. Edmond North’s offense went right back to moving the ball this time on the ground on 8-runs from Colin Roy, Fisher, and MacNaughton that led them to a fourth-and-1 at the Panthers 11-yard line. On fourth down, the Huskies ran a quarterback sneak but were stopped behind the line of scrimmage resulting in a turnover on downs. The Panthers’ offense started the next drive at their own 13-yard line. The Huskies committed two 15-yard penalties on the Panther’s drive. Putnam City North took advantage of the penalties with Tre Ackerson running in a 3-yard touchdown. The touchdown brought the Huskies lead down to 14-7 to close the first quarter. Edmond North’s offense moved the ball back to the Panthers’ territory on their next drive. The Huskies faced another fourth down, but this time elected to kick a field goal at the Panthers 22-yard line. The decision didn’t benefit the Huskies with Luke Eisel’s field goal attempt blocked and recovered by DK Stevenson who was tackled by Hunter Richard, but was flagged for a horse collar. The Huskies defense stepped up after the turnover and forced the Panthers to a three-and-out. MacNaughton and Fisher went right back to work this time connecting on a 40-yard touchdown to bring the Huskies lead to 21-7 with 6:49 left in the first half. Putnam City North’s offense got the ball back into Edmond North territory, but could not move the ball from there with Aaron Norment throwing 3-straight incompletions leading to a turnover on downs. The next play MacNaughton completed a 32-yard pass to Jace Rosser to bring the Huskies to the Panthers’ 34-yard line. Later in the drive, McNaughton completed another long pass — this time for a 34-yard touchdown to Walker Brown to go up 28-7 with 2:24 left in the first half. Norment helped lead the Panthers offense to pay dirt before the end of the first half with a 16-yard run and a 34-yard completion to Grant Lyda. The completion took the Panthers to the 1-yard line where Will Taylor bulldozed his way for a 1-yard touchdown run. Edmond North went into halftime up 28-14. MacNaughton passed for 13-16 for 224 yards with 4-touchdowns in the first half. Fisher had 76-receiving yards, 41-rushing yards and 2-touchdown catches in the first half. Putnam City North received the ball to start the second half. The Huskies defense forced their second three-and-out of the game with help from a Noah Hooks’ sack on second down. The Huskies offense would start at their own 34-yard line. MacNaughton connected with Fisher 4-times for 29-yards, but came up short on fourth-and-nine turning the ball over on downs at the Panthers’ 29-yard line. On the second play of the Panthers’ drive Chris Jagosh intercepted Norment and returned it to the Edmond North 47-yard line. The offense drove to the Panthers’ red zone, but were forced to settle for a field goal by Eisel to go up 31-14 with 4:44 left in the third quarter. Jagosh intercepted Norment on the second straight series for his second interception of the game. Then on the next play MacNaughton was intercepted by Dameion Johnson bringing the ball to the Edmond North 33-yard line after a penalty. Norment on the next play fumbled the snap, which was recovered by Cade Prosak at the Edmond North 36-yard line. The Huskies followed that fumble up with one of their own that was recovered by Cameron Goudeau at the Huskies 39-yard line. Both teams combined to have four straight turnovers in less than a minute. After the fumble, Lyda caught a 39-yard touchdown despite a pass interference on the play to narrow down the Huskies lead to 31-21 with 3:14 left in the third quarter. MacNaughton and the Huskies took over with the quarterback throwing the ball to Fisher 4 times for 54-yards, but the Huskies would punt the ball back to the Panthers 18-yard line. The last play of the third quarter Lyda caught a pass from Norment and took it 72-yards to the Edmond North 10-yard line. The Huskies led at the end of the third quarter 31-28. Norment started the fourth quarter on a high note for the Panthers scampering in for a 1-yard touchdown. Putnam City North missed the extra point bringing the score to 31-27 with 10:55 left. Edmond North’s turnover woes continued when the Huskies fumbled the ball on third-and-1 that was recovered by Putnam City North at the Huskies’ 19-yard line. Putnam City North’s offense couldn’t move the ball settling for a field goal by Allee to bring the score to 31-30. On the next drive, MacNaughton led the Huskies on a 5-play 65-yard touchdown drive. MacNaughton finished the drive with for a 5-yard touchdown pass to Fisher. The touchdown brought the score to 38-30 with 7:12 left. The Huskies defense forced the Panthers to go three-and-out thanks to a pack of Huskies sacking Norment on second down. Edmond North’s next drive came to a stop after Fisher fumbled the ball. It was recovered by Zach Dortch and returned to the Putnam City North 47-yard line. The Panthers drove the ball down into the Huskies red zone where they faced fourth-and-5 at the Edmond North 8-yard line. Putnam City North went for it, but came up short with Lyda’s catch coming 1-yard short of a first down. Edmond North failed to move the ball on offense and punted back to Putnam City North’s 33-yard line with 2:50 left. The drive led to Putnam City picking up a crucial fourth-and-10, when Norment connected with Lyda on a 11-yard pass. After the fourth down, the Panthers drove right down the field to score a touchdown on a 5-yard run by Tre Ackerson. The touchdown brought the score to 38-36. The Panthers elected to go for the 2-point conversion, where they ran a direct snap to the running back who reversed it to Antajuan Brown who passed it to Norment, catching the ball and taking it across the goal for a two-point conversion to tie the game 38-38. Edmond North’s offense got the ball back with 41-seconds left at their own 40-yard line. MacNaughton and the offense drove the ball down to the Putnam City North 8-yard line with 5-seconds left to set up a 26-yard field goal attempt. Eisel’s field goal attempt went wide left, which resulted in the game going into overtime. On the first play of overtime, MacNaughton was intercepted by John Mosha in the end zone. Allee hit the game winning 28-yard field goal for Putnam City North to win 41-38 with the student section rushing the field after the kick.
