EDMOND — Perhaps Edmond North just didn’t put up much of a fight. That, or Norman North was just really, really good Friday night at Wolves Stadium.

Probably a bit of both.

Never a very competitive game after the Timberwolves scored their first points on just their second offensive snap, Norman North rolled over Edmond North 45-0.

The T-Wolves were looking to get the bad taste out of their mouths after falling at home last week to Owasso and they were able to do that, throwing for 264 yards and running for 189, while the Huskies went nowhere and frequently backward, topping out at 146 yards of total offense, 109 through the air and just 35 on the ground.

“I don’t know,” was North coach Brent Barnes’ answer when asked if it was the first shutout his defense had pitched since he took the head coaching reigns from Wade Standley, yet he was “pretty sure it’s our first one this year.”

So it was.

Things couldn’t have began much better for the T-Wolves. In the first quarter alone, quarterback Ryan Peoples completed 132 yards worth of passes and tailback Dalyn Alexander ran for 80.

“Ryan was seeing things really well early and we were just in rhythm,” Barnes said. “And when you’re getting three and outs defensively, you get to stay in that rhythm, and I think that was the biggest key.”

While North scored on its first, second, fourth and fifth possessions, Edmond North did not sniff the end zone. The Huskies attempted no field goals, nor did they ever turn the ball over on downs in the red zone. They were simply never close.

“We controlled the line of scrimmage, I think that was No. 1,” Barnes said. “They weren’t getting any easy runs, so they were having to throw the football a little bit and they weren’t having any success.”

Alexander scored the T-Wolves first two touchdowns on runs of 17 and 1 yards.

Tight end Mitchell Ross scored the T-Wolves last two touchdowns on catches of 3 and 21 yards, both thrown by Jacob Switzer, who came in to give Peoples the rest of the night off in the third quarter.

In between, North got a 1-yard touchdown run from Sincere Jackson and a 6-yard scoring toss from Peoples to Drake Stoops, who finished with five catches for 103 yards.

Peoples threw for 183 yards, Switzer for 81 and Alexader ran for 145 on 20 carries.

“We got off to a great start,” Barnes said.

And North just kept on rolling.

The victory moved the T-Wolves to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in District 6AI-2 and clinched a playoff spot.

The Huskies fell to 3-6 and 2-4.

North concludes the regular season in six days at Moore.

“We wanted to play a good football game,” Barnes said.

They did.
