Edmond North girls come out on top in the pool

The Edmond North girls’ deep talent pool propelled the team to the win in a swim meet Tuesday night at the Edmond Schools Aquatic Center. The meet included teams from all three Edmond schools as well as Booker T. Washington, Enid, Mustang and Oklahoma Christian. “The coaching staff is extremely pleased with our finishes Tuesday night,” said Edmond Public Schools Head Swim Coach Heather Devoe. “We have invited strong teams from both 5A and 6A to come compete against us, and we are finishing 2017 with really exciting swims.” Memorial girls finished third and Sante Fe girls fifth. In boys’ action, Sante Fe, North and Memorial finished second, third and fourth, respectively. Booker T. Washington won the boys division and placed second in the girls division. North’s Lady Huskies were led by the quartet of Erin Sylvester, Lindsey Fuchs, Brynnan Duncan and Ryann James, who earned gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The top scorer for Sante Fe boys was Ryan Harris, who flew to the win in the 100-yard butterfly. Harris also joined teammates Jacob Muller, Ethan Reed and Braden Nicholson to take first in the 200-yard medley relay. Lady Bulldog Katie Callahan was the top finisher for Memorial girls, winning both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Sydney Parker added another win for Memorial when she sailed to victory in the 100-yard backstroke. Callahan and Parker were also part of two winning relays. The Lady Bulldogs teamed up with Riley Bushey and Angelina Rossi to win the 200-yard medley relay and with Bushey and Krista Parker to take the 400-yard freestyle relay. For North boys, Alex Reynolds was a double-event winner, sprinting for first in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. Brendan Healy and Chris Silva also earned top times, with Healy achieving victory in the 200-yard individual medley, and Silva reaching for the win in the 100-yard breaststroke. All three schools were back in action again on Saturday, Dec. 9, for the Edmond Invitational Meet. The competition was held at the Edmond Schools Aquatic Center at 11 a.m.
