Edmond North has some bragging rights around town.

The Huskies won the overall team title in Thursday's Edmond City Championship meet, using a combined score to edged Edmond Memorial 827-777.

“City champs is about great Edmond swimming, and we accomplished that,” Edmond coach Heather Devoe said in a release. “The seniors make the lineups, and most athletes compete in at least one event they don't normally race. Adding to that, the combined component and the record-setting event this year certainly created a team-building high note to end the regular season on and get us ready for serious preparation for regionals and state.”

North's depth was huge in overcoming eight first-place finishes by Edmond Memorial and six by Edmond Snata Fe. Evan Drum, Matt Hutson, Ryann James and D.J. Scott each won events for the Huskies, who also won the 400-yard freestyle relay.

For Memorial, star Luke Davis and Kellie Fischer each won two events. The Bulldogs' 200-medley relay team also set the school record with a time of 1:48.85.

Santa Fe's Chloe Chase also won two events.

Yukon's Ramirez picking up steam

Yukon junior Yitzhak Ramirez was finally pleased.

After returning from a shoulder injury, he had not felt good about his results the past few weeks. Last week, though, he finally felt like his old self in two victories during a meet at Fort Gibson.

“I think he's starting to find his groove again,” Yukon coach Bruce Clifton said. “That's the exciting thing.”

Ramirez, who moved last year from Elgin, won the 100-meter butterfly (1:06.40) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:53.27). He also helped Yukon win the 400-freestyle relay and finish second in the 200-medley relay.

Stillwater dominates again

Stillwater's swim teams ended their home schedule in a big way.

Both boys and girls teams dominated a meet with Deer Creek, Heritage Hall and Piedmont, winning all but one event.

Savanna Barth, Dewi Blose and Marcia Shaw all won two events on the girls side. Jackson Tidland, Landon Clark and Ryan Clark each won two events on the boys side.

Deer Creek's Austin White was the lone winner not from Stillwater. He won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:12.04.
