Huskies, Antlers crowd 6A-I All-District

After this season saw Edmond North and Deer Creek post identical 12-2 district records, both teams were dutifully rewarded with mass representation on the 2018 6A-I All-District Softball team released Wednesday morning. Edmond North’s junior Jacee Minter led things off on the list, being crowned the Co-Player of the Year alongside Southmoore’s Karli Petty. The Huskies also saw Evy Aud, pitcher; Amy Crabaugh, catcher; freshman Emily Deramus, middle infielder; Kaitlyn Jones, outfield; and utility Kamryn Garvie all named for All-District honors. Second baseman Kamri Heath and North’s hot-corner handler Riah Smith were each named as honorable mentions to the team on Wednesday. The Huskies finished as Class 6A State Runner-ups, including a 29-4 overall record this season. The 2018 District Champion Deer Creek Lady Antlers also saw six rostered members honored on the list, led off by Offensive Player of the Year Emily Hott. Alongside her the school saw Caitlyn Wells, Pitcher of the Year; Terin Ritz, pitcher; Hailey Evans, corner infield; and outfielder Shayleigh Odom all named on Wednesday’s All-District list. Rounding out the Lady Antler’s awards was second-year head coach Lacy Darity. Darity was selected the 6A-I District Coach of the Year after skippering the school to their first 6A District and Regional titles, and the school’s first 6A state tourney semifinal qualification. Catcher Brett Smith, Macy Stockton and Whitney Kimberlin were found as honorable mentions for Deer Creek on the list. Joining the top-2 district teams’ representation on Wednesday was Edmond Memorial’s Beth McAnally. McAnally was selected as a utility for the team, and she was followed by Bulldog Honorable Mentions Crislyn Cole and Emersen Heron. The three schools combined to take 54 percent of Wednesday’s first team honors in what was widely considered one of the most competitive districts in all of 6A softball this season.
