Edmond North junior Emily Miller has had a big spring and now she enters next week’s state tournament as a title contender.

Miller edged Edmond Memorial star sophomore Lilly Whitley by one stroke Wednesday for the top spot in the Class 6A West regional tournament at Lake Hefner South.

Miller shot a 2-over 72, while Whitley shot a 73.

But Whitley’s efforts helped push Edmond Memorial to the team championship, as the Bulldogs edged Edmond North by two strokes with a 306.

Memorial freshman Olivia Coit and Norman North senior Makenzie Merkley each shot a 75.

The Class 6A state tournament begins Wednesday at Earlywine Golf Course.
