The Edmond North fastpitch softball team beat Deer Creek 7-1 in the championship game of the Edmond Tournament on Saturday.

Yukon took second with a 4-2 win over Newcastle, and Westmoore beat Owasso 10-2 in the third-place game. Choctaw was awarded the win in the fourth place-game as the result of a forfeit by Midwest City.

The tournament was hosted by Edmond North. Coach Rick Nordyke hopes to keep the tournament going in the future.

"It was kind of like a little mini state tournament because six of the eight teams were in the state tournament last year," Nordyke said. "I thought it was a pretty strong tournament with some good matchups that could happen maybe in two weeks when the state tournament comes on."
